On and Off Campus Service

For my off campus service, I volunteered for the Benicia MakerSpace. It was a very valuable learning experience, since a lot of the jobs were hands-on work or work with technology. This has given me some preparation to go into the engineering field, since one of my jobs was to sort electrical components. Another part of this job was to work at the MakerFaire, a community event hosted by MakerSpace. I experienced the closeness of the Benicia community, and the way MakerSpace promotes learning and teaching. The experience of MakerSpace is definitely one to share, it is a great way to meet people and learn new things. I will tell my friends and family about the event because it’s a good experience.

For my on-campus service, I was the AMP (Awesome Music Players) club co-president. I have been in the club since Junior year and have been part of multiple bands. We performed many times during our lunchtime performances, AMP club in the Amphitheater, and during school concerts. Organizing bands and practices is kind of stressful, but pays off at the performance. It was a good use of my musical ability and a great way to make friends. This was my first time having a appointed leadership role, so being able to take responsibility was a good experience for me. I enjoyed performing for the school and guiding and encouraging groups to perform. I’m proud of how I have contributed to AMP club for these past years.IMG_0748
